twilight's green opera

the other side of the sky is blue
over where night is coming through
and I am here under yellow haze
gazing at the pink-orange shell
amphitheatering the last reflections of sun

the clouds have been beaten into ripples
by soundless applause of all who happened to see
those who look up
from horizon to horizon

we caught some rare moment
when sky is dressing for evening
her chest pale but breathing with flush
waist cinched back with that band of smoky yellow holding in
skirt widening into blue, blue, blue
deepening as her hem spreads off into the distance

I'm glad. At the time I sort of wondered whether mine was worth it or whether I should sacrifice the whole line and thought to you for yours, after I saw you'd used it. But I think the fact I liked my own was what made me miffed about yours at first when I really shouldn't have cared---or even should have been flattered you were inspired!

They can be companions. Yours one side of the sky, mine another; both each other's "other side." :)
